Scholars Programme
IRRI hosts a large number of graduate and postgraduate students undertaking research in cooperation with IRRI scientists. It is necessary for such visitors to have their own sources of funding.
While these arrangements are usually the result of existing international research alliances, enquiries are always welcome. If the student has a funding source, it is often possible to arrange a connection with an IRRI researcher in the area of interest.
IRRI also has arrangements for undergraduate students to come on international experience visits. In addition we offer “On the Job Training” (OJT) and internship experiences. Enquiries about such arrangements are also welcome.

As a leading global rice research organization, IRRI is an excellent location for undergraduate and graduate students to engage in their PhD and MS studies where they can be supervised by leading scientists in their field and work in a world-class scientific environment. Our degree programs provide students and scholars opportunities to pursue MS and PhD degrees, as well as fellowships to update their technical knowledge and skills as professionals in the national rice research systems.

Non-degree program refers to internship or on-the-job (OJT) training curriculum. This program provides highly focused non-academic training opportunities for national scientists and students. Training activities in this mode range from several weeks to one year.

Scholarships are available to support highly qualified scientists from developing countries. We administer scholarship funds for several donor agencies. The selection is highly competitive but institutions may endorse applicants.
