The ICAR Training Grant is one of the initiatives under the current International Rice Research Institute and the Indian Council for Agricultural Research (ICAR) workplan. Through this program, ICAR will support selected students and national staff from ICAR institutes to participate in the course and gain an in-depth understanding of genomic prediction concepts, hands-on data analysis, and practical applications in crop breeding.
The grant will provide funds to cover the training fee of qualified applicants of the Fundamentals of Genomic Predictions and Data-Driven Crop Breeding course. This immersive training is designed for plant breeders, geneticists, graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, research scholars, and assistants involved in crop breeding programs and covers the modules:
- Module 1: Introduction and Learning R and R Markdown
- Module 2: Fundamentals of Quantitative Genetics and Predictive Modeling
- Module 3: G x E Interactions Dissections in Predictive Breeding
- Module 4: Practical Implementation of Genomic Selection in Plant Breeding
- Module 5: Breeding and Crossing Scheme Optimizations.
The ICAR Training Grant will only cover the training fee. Selected participants are expected to cover their transportation expenses (including airfare and airport transfers if needed) to and from training venue, accommodation, medical insurance, and allowance.
