ORYZA Training Program for Practical Applications

This training program will familiarize the participants with the functions and the data requirements to run the ORYZA model, experimental data collection for model outputs evaluation, calibration of parameters, practical application of ORYZA, and introduction of the new features developed in the model.

Learning Objectives

At the end of the training, the participants will:

  • understand the basic operations of ORYZA;
  • identify and prepare the input files required for practical applications;
  • understand the process & concepts of parameterization and calibration; and
  • run the ORYZA model to generate outputs related to potential growth and yield, soil carbon sequestration, greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, effects of abiotic stresses, and climate change on these variables.

Prerequisites

The participants must bring their own laptop with the following minimum specifications:

  1. User must be an administrator of the laptop for problem-free software installation;
  2. The Operating System requirements:
    • at least Windows 8 or higher Windows version; and
    • Microsoft Office 2007 or higher edition.
  3. Laptop specs:
    • RAM ≥ 4GB; and
    • free hard drive space ≥ 50GB.
