In partnership with the Rural Development Administration (RDA) of Korea, the International Rice Research Institute Education (IRRI Education) implemented a capacity development program on seed production on 23-29 November 2022 at IRRI headquarters in the Philippines.
The workshop included rice production in the Philippines, quality rice seed, rice crop management, quality seed breeding, harvest and post-harvest management, seed systems, laws, testing and certification, and seed health.
Fifteen researchers and extension workers from RDA partner countries Bhutan, Cambodia, Indonesia, Myanmar, Mongolia, Philippines, Thailand, Sri Lanka, and Vietnam participated in the training event.
“The training provided us with very useful information, ideas, and practical exercises on quality seed production,” said Ms. Bazarradnaa Enkhtuyafrom Mongolia.
“The IRRI-RDA quality seeds production is very useful and practical for my work, commented Ms. Nga Thuy Hoang from Vietnam. “After completing the course, I will apply my knowledge and skills to seed production in my country and I will share my insights with many others to expand further”.
The training was organized as part of the ongoing IRRI-RDA Agricultural Technology Cooperation that aims to share information, extend applicable agricultural technology transfer systems to the fields, and build the capacity for enhancing the agro-industry technology transfer system.
